Multi-Vehicle Collision near Gdańsk

This tragic event was widely covered by the media. On 18 October 2024, around 11 p.m., a serious accident occurred on the S7 road in Borkowo near Gdańsk. A 37-year-old truck driver crashed into vehicles stopped in a traffic jam formed just before a roadworks section.

A total of 21 vehicles were damaged, two of which caught fire. Tragically, 15 people were injured and four – all minors – lost their lives. The victims were returning from a Lechia Gdańsk football match. The driver was charged with causing a disaster in land traffic endangering the life and health of many people as well as large-scale property. He pleaded not guilty and refused to testify. Toxicology confirmed he was neither under the influence of alcohol nor drugs, and his vehicle was not overloaded. The probable cause was excessive speed. He faces up to 15 years in prison.

Our office represents the families of two victims – 10-year-old boys returning from the match with their mothers.

Polish Minibus Crash in Slovakia

This accident shook both Polish and Slovak media. On 13 September 2024, a tragic accident occurred on the D1 motorway in Slovakia. A minibus carrying a Polish family returning from holiday in Croatia veered off the road and struck a tree.

Three people died at the scene – a 35-year-old couple and the 35-year-old woman’s 62-year-old mother. A 4-year-old girl, transported by helicopter to hospital, later died of her injuries. The only survivor was a 5-month-old infant.

The Polish Claims Assistance Office is supporting the victims’ relatives not only in securing compensation but also in proceedings concerning guardianship rights over the surviving child, who has been in their care since the accident.
