PLN 200 thousand for the loss of a leg in a traffic accident

The story

On April 15, 2010, in a town near Warsaw, there was a traffic accident in which the driver of a Renault Scenic, Mr. Kamil W., was seriously injured.

He was not the culprit of the collision, and as a result of the accident the injured driver suffered numerous injuries of internal organs, external wounds and serious injuries to one of the legs, which consequently led to its amputation.

After the accident, Mr. Kamil W. had to undergo a long and expensive rehabilitation, and the trauma associated with the accident and the amputation of the limb resulted in symptoms such as neurosis, chronic stress, sleep disorders and chronic pain, which did not subside after administering pharmacological agents.

The injured driver was unable to work and his daily functioning after the accident became very difficult.

Insurer’s proposal

The Insurance Company, after analyzing the case of Mr. Kamil, proposed a payment of PLN 50000 for the harm suffered.

This amount was both unsatisfactory for the victim and inadequate to the injuries suffered, so Mr. Kamil turned to Polska Kancelaria Pomocy Poszkodowanym for help.
